Weekend Doings
CW's Premier Reserve Men travel to Port Alberni tomorrow for their first Roadie of the season. Port are always a vigorous opponent, especially so, at home. Their club "gets" the true comraderie of rugby, for their hosting is renowned. Good luck to the lads - do us proud, safe trip, good game and imbibe responsibly!!
CW Women will be at Home tomorrow at 11:30 when they take on Comox. The contest will be twelve-aside with the emphasis on fall rugby as being developmental. Manager, Chris Shepherd reports; "The most encouraging thing is that we have 40 players registered of all abilities - new players are still joining to learn the game and experienced players have returned due to the positive environment."
Canada's NSWT was "sent off" in fine style at the Vancouver Club, on their way to NZ to do us proud at the XV's RWC. CW's Women's Team Manager was present and reports; " I was lucky enough to attend the send off dinner Wednesday evening - compliments of the club and was very glad I was there. I sat with the new Rugby Canada CEO, Nathan Bombrys, Sophie deGoede's parents (Stephanie and Hans), 15's players, Brianna Miller and CW's, Julia Schell. Needless to say it was a very entertaining evening. The six players who have CW connections (Sophie deGoede, Julia Schell, Karen Paquin, Gabby Senft, Olivia Demarchant and Sabrina Poulin) were very appreciative of the ' walk- around funds' provided by the Dennis Carson Memorial Fund. There were many comments during the speeches about the importance of and appreciation for Club Rugby. As one of the largest clubs in Canada, I was proud to be there. "
There is no one who could have been a more deserving or better represenative than, Chris. 'onya, Chris and to the ladies - "Go, you good things!"
