Wednesday's Ruck & Maul
BIG RUGBY DAY SATURDAY AT THE HOUSE
This Saturday Abbotsford RFC visits Windsor for a day of Age Grade Boys rugby. This event was cancelled last year due to inclement weather. Abbotsford will be bringing 2XU18 teams, 2XU16 teams and an U14 team. CW will have 2XU18 teams with a little help from other clubs for the ‘second’ team, our U16 team faces Abby’s #1 team, with an invite to JBAA U16 to take on Abby’s “second” team.
The club’s Senior women will be handling the hosting duties and will be selling burgers and bevvies to raise funds for their 2025 Tour.
This will be a big day to showcase our strong Junior Boys program on a Saturday. Games will commence at 11:30 and noon. Please spread the word.
Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. the NSWT XV’s will face off against England in the WXV final. Both teams are undefeated and ranked #1 & #2 in world order. England flexed their muscles against NZ last week with a six-try, 49 – 31 performance. Canada did their job with a 21 – 8 victory over Ireland. The game will be televised on TSN and at The Temple (714 Discovery St), where a Thanksgiving supper will also take place. Doors open, 6:30 – bring a plate for Potluck affair. Go, Canada.
Indigenous Lands Acknowledgement
A first at the House of Windsor, saw senior men’s player, Ethan Louie from the Nuu-Chah-Nulth First Nations gave a land acknowledgment to the Lekwungen peoples as the stewards of the land we play on. Also recognised were the elders for upholding our cultures and traditions, the matriarchs for being the bedrocks of our families and community, and all Indigenous children in Canada.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
We bring you another great weekend of rugby. Our Minis hosted the season’s first jamboree. Well done, setting the bar high for organization on a beautiful sunny Sunday.
