VALE - BRENT JOHNSTON

VALE – BRENT JOHNSTON
It is the saddest of days that brings our readers the saddest of news. It is with heavy heart that we announce that the Atlas of CW Rugby, Brent Johnston, has passed away. Brent called himself a “fixer”, and this man of amazing humility, kindness, energy, enthusiasm and other, almost limitless adjectives, simply got the job done.
There are so many stories that could be told by so many people to describe Brent’s actions that confirm these copious descriptors. We would ask you to share your stories with your friends in the days ahead. These stories need to be told.
For those of us who knew of the seriousness of Brent’s health condition, this has still been so sudden and final. Brent was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer condition, amyloidosis, mere months ago. His health went downhill as he underwent chemotherapy, and he suffered from its many side effects. Throughout this time, this very private man remained concerned and diligent about his club. There was the playoff picture, the Annual General Meeting, the Players Awards Dinner, all of which he stayed on top of as best he could, until the end.
To Colleen, Jake, and Emily go our deepest and heartfelt condolences. Your man leaves a legacy with no peer, for CW rugby. Thank you for sharing him with us. Brent, like all passionate, high-striving individuals was not perfect, but he was so true to his beliefs and actions for the cause that he could not be questioned and we truly loved him for it.
There will be more news forthcoming to celebrate this man’s time with us. Stay tuned to www.cwrugby.com RIP, Johno. You were an absolute beauty to so many individuals, our club, BC, & Canadian rugby. Well done, thou good and faithful servant. One fine man and you will be sorely missed.
