SATURDAY - A NO RUGBY DAY!

Now, this is how I saw matters!

CW can prepare three of our four senior teams for quarter final play next weekend.  The women’s First Div. will be at Bayside; men’s First Div. at UVic, 12:45; simultaneously, our women’s Prems will be at Juan de Fuca to face Westshore.

                                                            Lest we forget.

It has been one year since Brent Johnston passed away.  Today, we offer a few photos to show more of the many faces of Brent, at work with the myriads of tasks he handled for CW.

                                                                      RIP, Johno & Stoby

                                                MINI RUGBY CONCLUDES

Director, Rod reports on another successful season.  Minis will wind up tomorrow with a variety of stations to test skills.  The morning will conclude with a brief shoutout to players and coaches and a potluck luncheon.  Hats off to Rod and to his many volunteer coaches and helpers.

                                                        NSWT

Canada’s women have had considerable success at the Hong Kong Sevens this weekend.  At upload time, they will play NZ in one semifinal, whilst France plays Australia in the other.  Canada was pipped by Oz in pool play 19 – 17 and went on to defeat USA 19 -7 to earn their spot.  Meanwhile, in Missouri, under the threat of tornado warnings, the NSWT XV’s led NZ – 14 – 5 at the half, but failed to add to their score, facing an explosive Black Fern second stanza of 31 points!  This result will drop Canada to #3 in world rankings.  Unfortunately, the weather prevented a live telecast.  Sophie, seen above in her mini rugby days, was slated to start – another amazing recuperation from this warrior.

                                                                   FUN FACTS

Gavin Kratz wound up 21 years of weekends at the House of Windsor last Saturday.  Gav started as a mini player in 2005 and except for his representative trips for Canada and his years at UVic has called Windsor his rugby home ever since.  Gavin is part of our premier Senior Leadership team and a wonderful leader whose example is an inspiration to many.
