Sevens Heaven - Close, But Not Quite

For those readers who just need the recap fix - read it here!  NSMT opened the day rather flat, after getting it to 7 - 14 against England early, with a Ciaran Hearn tally, that was all she wrote as 'The Chooms' showed some pedigree, racing away to a 47 - 7 final.

Game #2 was the heartbreaker for The Maple Leafs.  The always tough Fijians had Canada at 14 - 7 at the break.  In the second chuka, Canada, proving they no longer wear the "minnows" label, with tallies from Yak and Mooner, went ahead 19 - 14.  At "no game", it was tied.  The Fijians muscled one over in extra time for the 26 - 19 "W".  Toughie, Canada!

To save the day, after this gutting loss, the men in red needed to overcome arch rivals, U.S. Eagles.  They accomplished this with great aplomb, 41 - 7.  To finish a most interesting day #1 in this pool, Fiji defeated England, 26 - 21.  Go, figure, eh?  Canada next up, takes on Spain in Bowl play.  Go, you good things.

Canadian women fared a little better in their day#2, defeating Spain, then holding the Silver Ferns (Female Blix), to a 5 - 19 scoreline.  The ladies now take on Russia to decide third and fourth placings.
