CW HOSTS SEASON FINALE

U.Vic's 'Howard's Raiders' will be in the house on Saturday. The curtain-raiser will feature a playoff-bound CW Divvies against the league-leading Norsemen.
CW will be led by Kyle 'The Legend' Hohert. On paper this one looks to be one-sided however, when this writer digs deeper, I note that it might not be so straight forward. CW is on a seven-game win streak. With a Premier “full house” selection available, the Divvies will be the beneficiaries. The FRF will be strong with newbie, Nadeem, making a statement. The rest of the pack, although young, has produced an improved effort with each of their recent outings.
MVP, Marshall Stove will lead the backs, a group of young guns who seemingly delight in risk-taking and chucking the pill around. ‘Doc’ MacDonald and Vorster in the centers have become an explosive combo. The Norsemen, although leading the comp, lost 48 – 0 to Nanaimo last time out. A comparison of recent results between the two teams is when they played Port Alberni on the road. The Norsemen eked out a 34 – 31 win whilst CW had a convincing 45 – 22 victory. Motivation might be tenuous for the Norsemen with the school year drawing to a close. It would not be off the charts to predict a local's upset in this one.The main game promises to be much closer than the “bonus point win” the pundits might prognosticate. The Vikes are tied with Burnaby for the last playoff spot, a side they beat at home last game, and they have a game in hand. For CW, coach Goodland has a pool from which to select, the likes of which has not been witnessed by The Faithful all season. Kratz, Ogunlade, M’Cloud, Easson, Porter, Bowd, Espagnol, Dring, and Rikley-Krinkle were all seen at training this week. Throw in a healthy Gammage, Poulton, Finnemore, Humphries, Corbin, Pilgrim, Regan, John, Mager, and Tait, and this represents an abundance for Goodland.
The Vikes will include CW "grads", Cotie and Oughtred, part of an explosive backline, anchored by Cooper Coats and including Alex Gammage who was a one man wrecking ball the last time these sides met. There is also the possibility of NSMT's Morgan Di Nardo, sib of former Tricolor, Riley, rounding out an impressive backline.
Both matches are mouth-watering affairs and with good weather, we call for the season’s best crowd to send off Ken Goodland following a stellar career with the Tricolors.
