AGE GRADE TO KAMLOOPS

ALOHA!

CW was easily indentified off the field at Kamloops last weekend! Kudos to Ed Knaggs, conceptualizer of Krazy road trip outfits.  On the pitch, some 120 teams in 10 Divisions, from U14 to U18, boys and girls, took part in the competition. Teams came from throughout BC and Alberta. CW Age Grade U16 Boys came second to Abbotsford in the U16 Competitive Division, and U18 Girls came third to Edmonton Clansmen in the Open Division. This has become a classic, must attend event on the BC Age Grade calendar and from all accounts, 2024 did not disappoint. Bouquets to the Kamloops RFC and for CW, to Merie Beachamp our Communications Director, and chief cook and bottle washer for this event. Well done, all.

In response to much feedback regarding notification of scheduled matches, with the good grace of Paul Shepherd, we bring you a solution!  Above is the menu bar for our Home page and you can click directly on 2024/25 Season for all the men's and women's matches.  Any changes will be announced via blog.

Talking of schedules, segues into the season opener of CW men and women this coming Saturday.  The First Division men (compliments of altered BCRU lexicon for this season), will be travelling to Port Alberni to face the Black Sheep who dropped their opener to Westshore last weekend in a close tussle. Premier Men face Meralomas at home.  These teams last met in February with the Lomas winning 27 - 21 when a last-play, valiant effort, resulted in a CW try, only to be correctly denied due to interference! Rumour from the training pitch has it that there are good numbers and plenty of new faces.  Our women will field three road teams - a magnificent effort for so early in the season! 2nd Div will play UBC and Premier women will play UBC #2, both matches being played at the Point Grey campus. Team details will follow later in the week.

A final note today offers Fiji a 'congratulations', as the new Pacific Nations Champion, following their weekend victory over Japan.  Like the semi-final, the match was of high quality.
