Monday's Musings

Kicking off with BIG bouquets to Canada ‘A’, NSMT on their come from behind, 28 – 26 reversal of their previous loss, over Samoa ‘A’ for third place finish in the inaugural, Pacific Nations Cup. The boys were down 13 – 21 at the half however, with the scrum being dominant (good news, over Samoa!), they finished with a late tally from a new name, Ontario flanker, Craig, for the W. From one viewer, evidently the backs put in a shocker but the pigs carried the day. Rayzor Barkwill, off the bench, notched a five pointer, this man sure has a nose for the ball and that is a result of his doing the hard work. Mc Rorie added thirteen points with the boot. Well done, guys!

Next news – Hong Kong, probably the premier event on the Men’s IRB Sevens circuit, at least the one event where we are guaranteed to see a full house. (Speaking of which, trying to buy tickets for the upcoming Westhills women’s leg, on line is a dog’s breakfast!). So our 7’s boys go into Hong Kong, short on practise time but healthier than their last outing with the return of speedster, Justin Douglas, Sean Duke and the experienced, Ciaran Hearn - hopefully no nagging carry-overs from Fiji. A lot will be on the boys’ backs as they pool up against, Samoa, Belgium and Fiji. A second place pool placement to get into the Championship points would be nothing less than acceptable to this group, one imagines. Our hopes and wishes go out to all for this tourney, starting on Friday. We’ll bring you downstream times on Wednesday. Go, Canada!
