Mack Hits 50
CW congratulates Phil Mack on his 50th Sevens Tournament and his 856 points over an eight year span. The boys will want to put in a good one for him, starting "tonight" in London. Despite what might appear as an “easier” Pool, a closer analysis would give a very guarded opinion. First up, Samoa, not producing the results of former seasons but always a tough bruising encounter with talent that can do the job, depending on what side of the bed they get out of, for sure Canada will be giving them much respect, hoping to get off to a good start. #2 is against our southern adversaries. The U.S. had a poor tourney in Glasgow but Carlin Isles returns this week and automatically makes them a far better side. They will be very keen to test themselves against Canada’s rise to elite status. Finally, for the early risers you can watch, down streamed at 7:30 a.m. the game against Kenya. Kenya always has the biggest supporting contingent for some reason or another, this can sometimes influence many things that can happen on the field, not to negate from their excellent athletes. So, nothing to be taken for granted. In Sevens, you are only really as good as your last game, for on any given day, maybe with the exception of Fiji, South Africa and New Zealand, anyone can knock off anyone. Best of luck, boys!
