Game Reports - CW men vs JBAA

Division 1 CW 50 (8t, 5c) JBAA 17 (3t, 1c)

Score at the half CW 15 JBAA 17

As you can see from the score line CW put together a very solid second half while holding JBAA off the score sheet. To some extent the game reflected typical early season play from both sides…..those bumps in the process will be smoothed out by both teams in the coming weeks. JBAA and CW played many ‘’new and young’’ faces which is a positive sign for the Clubs and rugby in general. For CW ‘’Sunshine’’ Mitch Elliot scored two good tries and is showing a very much improved understanding and instinct for the game. Ian Hickman with 5 conversions was solid with the boot on the day supported by two tries from newcomer Riley Turchet.

Premier CW 28 (3t, 2c, 3p) JBAA 20 (3t, 1c, 1p)

Score at the half CW 10 JBAA 8

Another close match between the ancient rivals. Scrummaging was solid for CW, an advantage point during the day. For JBAA their line outs were solid and a strong counter point in set play. Open field play was in reasonable balance and each team sought try line advantage. There were 6 good tries on the day but a lot of play took place in the middled of the pitch…..a true player battle all game. At 10 for CW Regan Crosland put in another solid performance directing back play while contributing a try, two conversions and three penalty kicks. The ‘’man in the middle’’ had his hands full with the age ol’ rivalry and lots of good rugby being played..…..but it must be noted that players on both teams did not play with their emotions in control….and displayed an overall lack of respect for the effort being put in by the Referee…..this must and will change.
