Every Picture Tells a Story!
Photo - John Richardson
Last week this site offered a reward for the Photo-of-the-Day. Unfortunately, entries were not forthcoming but the excellent work of John Richardson, with his permission, is being offered to show a couple of his shots from the day. John’s photos do have a price to them, should you wish to acquire one. You can view John’s work HERE. Erich Eichhorn representing Island Sports News also took some photos and his work can be viewed HERE. A CW THANKS to both photographers.
The Ruggernut had an opportunity to belatedly view the JBAA opening try in the men’s Premier game last week. In a word, “soft”, and in hindsight, I am pleased that I did not witness it “live”. Enough said. Tomorrow the men’s Premier and Divvies travel to the western community to take on yet, another local rival. Westshore sports a superior record to CW in both Divvies and Premier competitions, so there will be a great deal on the line. Late-breaking news reports an injury to Bowd at practice, so adversity will be tested even more. The game is rugby, and anything can happen and the opportunity for something special is on the table. One man doth not make the team. Hopefully, supporters will make the trek.
Sunday will see action at Windsor when our U14 Boys play Comox @ 11:45; U16 Boys play Comox @ 12:45, and our U18 Boys play Westshore @ 2:00 p.m. These matches are VIRU Semi-finals. Our Girls Age Grade teams are all playing in semi-finals on "away" pitches. The Ruggernut offers best wishes; play hard, play fair.
Also at the park, the club is rejoicing in the near completion of a new and enlarged storage shed, and the commencement of work on enhanced lighting which will ultimately reduce rental of alternate spaces and provide a training area for our six senior teams. CW applauds and thanks Oak Bay Council for their commitment and cooperation with the projects. The final note for today is of a congratulatory nature to the three CW U18 Age Grade players who have been selected to the BC U18 Boys 7’s team to travel to NZ for the Global Sevens Tournament to be held on December 13 – 15. Shout out to Michael Oughtred, Elijah Palov, and Jackson Powell (studying at UVic). Go, you good things.
