CW's Kleeberger and Fuailefau Join Bears For Final Fling
Looks like Fuli and Zac could be on opposite sides of the ball on Saturday!
Adam Kleeberger and Mike Fuailefau have been selected for the Bears as they take to the road for a hoped for, measure of respectability, this weekend. The Bears ( 1 & 3) play the Prairie Wolf Pack (2 & 2) in Edmonton. Connor Braid is healthy again and has been included along with a real 'comer', B.C. U19 scrum half, James Pitblado. The Bears have not had a stellar camapaign once again and although they pushed the winners, Ontario, close at Westhills, they have shown little else. Part of the issue appears to have been injury issues and selection has not been able to be consistent. That being said there are enough players who consider themselves "good footballers" in B.C. club rugby for the results to have been better. There are opportunities galore for players in Canadian Rugby at present with pros unavailable, Sevens off to Oz, some key injuries and the need to pick the ARC squad. It will be interesting as to just who will put their hand up with a BIG game.
Commenting on rugby at this CRC level, we would be remiss to not mention the serious injury incurred by The Rock's iconic, Dean Blanks in a recent game against The Wolf Pack. The inadvertent knock to the head by an opposition knee, resulted in major damage and subsequent serious surgery. Blank's indominatable will that he has shown on the pitch for many a moon with the Newfoundland lads, must have been the causal factor in everything coming out right and after a recent check up, doctors even "didn't rule out the possibility of him playing in the future". Blanks has chosen wisely and will be hanging them up, to enjoy life with his family. Welsh born, Blanks was on teams that won four National Championships and Pat Parfrey describes him as a "warrior". Enough said, for we know all of the boys that make The Rock's teams are of stern stuff. CW wishes Dean and rapid and total recovery and thanks him for being a true Canadian "rugby character". 'onya, Dean.
