Another Prescript To Saturday
A very special event which will be occurring at half-time tomorrow is the presentation to Anton Ngnon of the very first, “Step Ahead” scholarship. The scholarship has been sponsored by Roger Robinson of Touch Lounge. Roger, who, in conjunction with CW has generously donated what we hope will be the start of an increasing recognition for our graduating juniors.
The player must be a young man of character who has been a significant contributor to his CWRFC teams over the years and who has completed his junior rugby playing career….
The player will be deemed to be a leader both on and off the field of play….
The player will have aspirations for further education or career training and it is for this purpose that the award is intended….
$500 will be given to the player at the announcement of the award. A further $500 will be contributed when the player makes his next step educational choice….
The player may/will intend to continue his playing career with CWRFC. 'onya, Anton!
Saturday sees us welcoming members of our Supporters/Social Club and 20/20 Club. These members will be welcomed with a reception at the “south” club room, starting at 12:45 p.m. Members Spicer, Rees and Wenman send a reminder that it is not too late to join either group. You can sign up game day at the door to the club room. Social/Supporters membership is $150, coming with two complimentary beverages, embroidered club scarf – the “entry” to all CW Premiership home games for the remainder of 2015 (reminder that the CDI Competition will START in September this year), membership of DSC, not to mention quality rugby.
Featured on the “gate” and programs, score board, grounds set-up and clean-up this week are members of CW’s outstanding U18 team. The boys are fund-raising for an upcoming eleven day tour to Europe where they will visit and play games in Leicester, Bath, Cardiff and London. The tour party will consist of 25 players and the proceeds of today’s takings will go to the fund. We would ask that patrons might be a little more generous than our regular donation request and go, CW!
