A FULL WEEKEND SLATE
CW men and women are on the road tomorrow with both Premier sides facing Burnaby Lakers. For the men, it has only been some six months since they finished the season against each other at Windsor. On that day, CW won a close encounter 24 - 14. The boys certainly looked under-done and undermanned last outing, when the Pride administered a shellacking. Tomorrow will see the return of Denver Fatt and the evergreen, ever-dependable, former captain, Mike Finnemore, in the forwards, along with Jace Peters and Nick Carson, ready to return, from the pines. It will be intersting to see if a couple of faces can change the story. Burnaby is always a good test in the forwards. In the backs, Ollie Nott has moved to the centres and will join up with the returning, Rio Apt. Apt, is an exciting youngster whose pace matches, or betters, Ngongo's and Griffith's. Tardiff comes back into #15, following a questionable absence vs Pride, just when he seemed to be hitting his straps.
The Prem women will join CW's Div 1 who will be up against United and they will be playing at the same site, so the Divvies can provide a bench. It's hats off to the Lakers for changing their home game to accomodate this need to have safety and good competition. Burnaby have played one match, that being a useful win over Seattle, so it will be interesting to see if last week's efforts for our women are the real deal.
Today's feature events calendar offers a full plate of Age Grade games at the House of Windsor on Sunday. Pick a game, any game, to see good youth rugby. Better yet, take in the slate, and be sustained by burgers provided by the senior women!
