A Final Word on Glasgow

Firstly to the Cup game. N.Z. would have rolled any team the way they played in this game. The extra six minutes was something that had not been experienced before by Canada. Jones’ try will remain cast in memory for a long time. They had the gas but it was not the Perfect Storm it needed to be.

For Canada to succeed on the International sevens circuit with its plethora of talented players our “best players” have to be our best players. And so it came to pass. Moonlight & Mack made the Dream Team Honor Board – heady stuff. Jones, Duke, Trainor, Kleeberger and Braid, who had a breakout tournament, were all solid gold. The “supporting cast” did more than just chip in when called upon – witness Scholtzie’s four tallies before injury. To Whitey, Fuli, Kay and Maguire – well done. All twenty plus players associated with this program must take credit for their hard work and this outstanding success.

And so the show goes on. Off to London and the final tourney of the year. Mack’s Centennial appearance and in a Pool with arch rivals, U.S., Samoa and Kenya, all teams standing below Canada, so once again the expectations will continue to be high both from the fans and the players. One senses this group enjoys the pressure on their shoulders. Best of luck, boys!

A few words from the Coach;
