Oh What a Night!

Oh What a Night!

CW Rugby wishes to thank its many patrons, sponsors of major open auction items, friends and fans who participated in the weekend’s Annual Fun(d)raiser event. A successful night of fun and friendship it was!  The tenor of the evening was set with a wonderful jersey presentation to the club by Karen Paquin, the first Women’s signed jersey, (Olympic Games VII, 3rd place bronze, 2016), to adorn the walls of The Temple alongside the many Men’s jerseys either on loan or gifted to the club by past players.  Karen is a past assistant coach and player with our fledgling women’s Premier team.  Karen’s jersey was signed by members of the Canada RWC XV’s team which finished in third place.  ‘Pako’ has a storied record of achievements.  From her first cap in 2012 to her bronze medal with the Women at the 2016, Rio Olympics, Karen played both XV’s and VII’s, leaving a record number of tries in her wake, Player of the Year, WWS Dream Team, silver medal with XV’s World Cup, she has been an outstanding team player and inspiration.

Ken Goodland then rolled up his sleeves to perform the role of auctioneer, a hidden talent and a task he performed with vigour and humour.  Thanks, KG!  To all of the successful and generous bidders, thank you.  Finally, we would like to thank those donors of items in the open auction.  Your generosity and support knows no bounds and we encourage all of our Faithful to give back with loyalty to these businesses.  From Langara Fishing Adventures, Rick Bourne; Alan Mc Gillivray, Prince of Whales Sightseeing Adventures; Bruce and Leah McDiarmid from the Wickaninnish Inn and Osprey Cottages at Tofino; Kingsley Grant of King Size Fishing Adventures out of Oak Bay; Adam Pegg from La Quercia Restaurant, Vancouver; Gary Henry and Uplands Golf Club; Troy MacDonald of Helijet; Paddy Stewart, the Belfry Theatre; Lindy Van Alstine; Donald Carson of the Carson Automotive Group.  THANK YOU, all.
