Unsung Hero - On The Field

Cometh the hour, cometh the man.  In what has been a particularly rocky start to the season, certain individuals have stood out.  Over the next couple of weeks, we will recognize some of these "Unsung Heroes".

The first is Gord Kehoe. Gord's hometown is Alliston, Ontario, where he entered the world 25 years ago.  He currently owns his own company, TO THE ROOT OF IT, a landscaping and property maintenance operation.  Gord is an entepreneur, starting this business two years ago. As "Gord of All Trades" he also serves as a personal trainer and fitness coach at Crossfit Zone. He attended Banting Memorial H.S. where he first started playing at age fifteen.

Gord has donned the boots for Alliston Timberwolves, Barrie RFC, Aberdeenshire RFC, Cowichan RFC and CW for the past three years, spanning a playing career of nine years. He played #8 and during the past three seasons has also played lock and back row.  He recalls his highlights as winning the OFSAA Gold H.S. Champiponship, playing rugby in Scotland, being selected as MVP for the U20 Toronto Rebellion Reps and he hopes there may be a MAJOR highlight still to come!

His goal is to earn a start with the Canadian National Men's Team and most importantly to always play with passion, respect and heart in every game.  Gord, tongue in cheek, comments that he really has no one special rugby influence however his "grandfather calls me once in a while to tell me to quit rugby while I can still walk!  My parents don't understand the game, they just know I love it, so they enjoy it and support me."  We add Gord's mantra: "I have always been self motivated and I've come as far as I have because I challenge myself to be better each day".  What a code to live by!  'onya, Gord.
