Two Steps To Title
CW "travel" to MacDonald Park on Saturday to take on JBAA in one of two CDI semi finals. Both clubs have contributed heavily to the Canadian Sevens campaign, closing out in Glasgow and London. JBAA - Moonlight (c.), Mack, Braid and White; CW - Kleeberger, Fuli and Scholtz. CW wishes Canada all the very best in these two final tournaments.
To the local scene. This pundit is in no position to make any in depth comparison of the starting line-ups, despite the fact they have not been announced at this point, one could make educated guesses. We will touch on a few salient key factors for Saturday. For either team to take the "Next Step", Saturday will present a major hurdle. James Bay will feature a much stronger pack than their loss in the last encounter in February. Led by their American Internationals, Wallace and Harriman, both big units, Racine will round out the FRF, he always delights in giving a go at his former team mates. In the back row, Meechan and U20's Jake Webster are "big show-ers" and there is Miles, Slavic, De Goede and a few other hard nosers to select from.
The CW pack has had some selection stability in recent games and with only two, likely changes, Captain Tiedeman moving to hooker to replace an injured Barkwill and Panga coming in at #8, The Tricolors will be up for the challenge. CW will rely heavily on the efforts of the forwards to set a strong backline on the attack. James Bay will back the likes of Parfrey, Blevins, Meeres and Wilson-Ross, led by that wiley veteran, Dalziell, to be more than a match. So, the informed reader can see just how this contest whets the appetite, accompanied by a strong and vocal supporting contingent for both teams, this one promises to be a treat. Of course, we like The Lads chances but they will need to be tempered with patience, discipline and lack of error - a big ask but the conditions will be the same for both teams, so, go, CW!
