Premiers at the Park

Premiers at the Park

Circa 2017.

How opportune to come across this picture, featuring one of two honored guests at last night’s Gala Supreme, in action against Burnaby.  Our premier women go against the Lakers today @ 12:15 at the House of Windsor.  Both teams are tied on the ladder, with Burnaby having a game in hand.  There have been some changes made to last week’s successful selection.  Remee Brown moves to hooker and Marina Skaun will start at the lock position.  The backline also features some movement with Kate Kristianson returning to the #10 spot, along with Savannah King being new, Hill-Huse will play the full eighty in the centers with MacPherson earning a start to pair with her.  Gwynnie Fry moves from fullback to wing and the versatile, Currey, will occupy the custodian role.  This promises to be an intense encounter.  Go, you beauties!

This match will be preceded by the Div1 encounter for the ladies against Cowichan.  CW, at 2 – 2, are on the improve, big time, visibly gaining confidence and following the process.  On the other hand, Cowichan are 0 – 3 and looking to upset.  It is well worth the watch to see this group of young ladies ply their wares, learning and growing from week to week

Final game on the card will feature the men’s Premier match against Meralomas, kicking off at 2:30. CW lost by a point back in week #1 at Connaught, so revenge will be the desired outcome against a team which is improving weekly, as witnessed by a trouncing of the Bays last week.  There is yet another new combo in the FRF with Aussie, Reagan, returning and McCallum moving to hooker. Nate Dring will start this week, pairing with Humphries.  Gamage will move to a more threatening role for him at #9, and Pilgrim will take up the custodial role.  The return of Ethan Hager could play a significant role, pairing with Easson and running off Bowl.  The Faithful will have fingers x-ed.  Is this the week?

NSMT SEVENS.  The men opened with a brace of W’s over Bermuda and Barbados as they seek to get back to the BIGS.  Heard that the return of Lockie Kratz was jinxed with a hammy pull in training.  The men finish Pool, play today against Mexico.   Their XV’s counterparts face a huge task in Europe against Portugal.  Plenty to keep an eye on!!

Two honored guests, Caroline Crossley and Karen Paquin.

Heard in passng.  "Import limits are seven not five. The most challenging aspect of this rule is assessing the legitimacy of the status of the definition, "import"!" From the sidelines.
