On the Grow

On the Grow

Further to this week's Ruck & Maul, we bring readers a couple of historical tidbits related to our growth.  In 2004 the "old" pavilion saw its demise. It had more than served its day.  A special event that the club hosted around those times was the Pies & Pints luncheon for social members, in a small upper room, the claim of Oak Bay Cricket Club.

Our games were video-ed from the rooftop, as seen here with a youthful, Ken on camera!

CW has certainly grown since those days some twenty plus years ago. We contiue to grow as witnessed on the balcony recently, with John and Ollie and their wives adding to our community's future.  It is pertinent to bring this historical information to our burgeoning community as we seek to come full circle with our latest, most ever, exciting Coming Home initiative. GroW, CW.

APOLOGIES TO OUR READERS.
The Ruggernut got a week ahead of himself this week with scheduled matches.  The site reported our men's amd women's teams off to Jericho this weekend.  Save that for next weekend.  Instead, it is our men's Divvies on the road this afternoon, seeking to return to their winning ways in Cowichan.

Final comment for Saturday rugby relates to this morning's Six Nations games.  The underdogs finally bit the dust with Italy succumbing to an improving Wales, and Scotland losing to Ireland at Landsdowne Road in a brave effort.
