Old School Values Come To The Fore
At practise last night an oleo of talent worked hard, ranging The Park. Players will need to exhibit the value of selflessness before the starting XV is jig-sawed to take the pitch on Saturday. Loyalty to the Tricolor and pride of performance will be much needed values as players will find themselves far from preferred positions.
CW welcomes back Captain Tieds with open arms and for sure, he will be on the field - somewhere! Doug Woolridge looked good at practise and will probably link with FRF compatriots; Braddock and Sears-Duru who outplayed their UVic counterparts last week. Scotty Franklin, a consumate club man and still an outstanding performer was spotted with the backs......not that any of the piano movers will scoff at Scott who always comes to play against James Bay. Riley MacPherson looked good at #9 and if he goes, it will be a baptism of fire. Riley has been up against it before as he has moved through the age grades and been recognised at the B.C. level. He probably will link with Armstrong at #10. The nomadic, Fletcher Evans was seen in the custodial role.
James Bay outplayed the Velox and kept a closer scoreline with UVic than CW. They have shown early strength in the backs. Smith, the brothers Dalziell, Bancroft and the always respected, Nolan Miles lead the way. Add Thy De Goede back in the pack and Sean White's experience as handyman and that is a strong group. Prediction?? Another classic battle!
