Monday's Musings

MAGNIFIQUE!!

CW Rugby is so proud of the achievement of our NSWT, defeating the NZ Black Ferns on the weekend.  The victory places the women as #2 ranked team in the world and also wins the Pacific Four Competition.  Trailing, 3 -14 after thirty minutes, the ladies slowly ground their way back into the match, until, with twenty minutes remaining, they led 22 - 14. The fact that there were four starters who have worn the Tricolors is an additional matter of club pride. A special shout-out goes to MVP, Daleaka Menin, a prop forward whose work rate and pace around the park was immense.  Fancy Bermudez scored a brace from a hard line from a Sophie de Goede offload on both occasions.  Canada had a converted try taken away by a call from the TMO, subjectively assesed as an interference, and from this pundit, 'shaky' at best! Sophie, as Captain, played her customary uncompromising match and her leadership is without peer.  The coaching staff is to be commended and the team's identity is finally a matter of pride on the world rugby stage for all Canadian fans. 'onyas, all!

PS.  We will be able to see the ladies play in Vancouver in September at the World XV 1 Tournament. We will bring our readers ticket info early so as to enable your purchases for support. Go, Canada.

PPS. How could we be so rude as to have not recognised Tyson Beukeboom appearing in her 68th Record Cap match for her beloved Canada and playing a blinder to boot. Love you,Tyson - congratulations!
