Monday Musings

Braddock - another tireless performance.

Director of Rugby, Brent Johnston, offers his game observations today and we have spiced them with a few other comments offered by fans. BJ: “At game’s end, I felt I had seen this same picture some twelve months ago! The match was in reach at the half, with the Vikes ahead, 17 – 5. CW clawed back some ground and trailed 10 – 17 at fifteen minutes into the second stanza. At this point, the wheels came off and the students added 45 points in the final 25 minutes, with width and pace, serving them well.” Final score, Vikes 62 - 17. Johno adds; “The CW boys will rebound from this tough day at the office after video review which will be hard to watch but there were good things done despite much to improve on.”

Random comments –“Armstrong played his best game as a Tricolor.” “Braddock’s leadership and play, was gold.” “Newcomer, Sam “Silas” Bishop was very visible.” “Carnet was a revelation, despite what could have been adjudged as an early replacement.” “It was good to see Stephan Mosher back, lost a slight edge in pace but nothing in desire and motivation.” “Sam Rocher @ #10 was solid throughout.”

Editorial – The Vikes are definitely the real deal and a force to be reckoned with, a considerable impetus coming from grads from CW, worth a little chest-puffing but no help on the points table! CW gets another chance Vs the students on October 19th, when the CDI Premiership “kicks off”.

Team mates @ Ceedub, Morris and Hearn, go at it!

B.C. Bears finish the CRC’s with win #2, 26 - 20. The Bears led 26 – 8 with precious little time on the clock and although they won, they must have been disappointed to let The Rock score the final twelve points. So, another disappointing campaign for The Bears and it will be interesting to see if some rectification can occur next summer. In the other match yesterday, the Prairie Wolf Pack (5-1), upset hosts, Ontario Blues (4-1), 29 – 26. Kickers, McRorie (19 points) and Daypuck (16 points) led the point’s parade and both teams scored a brace of tallies. The teams were very even in the competition, with the half-time score being 13 – 13 and this was Ontario’s first loss in nineteen games!! Despite the loss, The Blues have a game in hand and they play The Rock to close out the campaign. On form, it looks like MacTier Cup #4.

Finally, a note of very good news. The Ruggernut has spotted Cole Braid in JBAA’s recent selections. Cole, brother of Connor and former CW Junior, has overcome a very serious health battle during which he had heaps of support from his brother, family and mates. Welcome back to the rugby fray, Cole.
