Ceedub Vs Caps - Match Preview

Tomorrow's action promises to be fast and furious when the Capilanos visit Windsor Park. The First Div game is an "unknown" although the locals will field a couple of lads who suited up with Prems Vs Burnaby, certain to stiffen the side.  Caps are flying high, sitting in third place in the race for the Ceili's Cup.  The Capilano club always fields strong teams and with CW having to forfeit their Round #1 game to Caps, it will be full on for the Visitors, fully expecting to walk away with a bonus win.  Last outing Vs Burnaby, The Ones played a solid game and had they been at full strength, would have really pushed the League leaders.  For the fans, it will be well worth it to be early to catch this action.  Go, Chippsy and The Lads.

The Premier contest promises to be both intriguing and entertaining.  Last outing, the hosts must have felt they left opportunities on the pitch when they failed to "read" the tempo of the contest in this viewer's opinion. The modern game moves at a rapid pace and players must adapt, they need to read the ref in particular, with regard to the breakdown, offensively and defensively. There will be a great deal of experience on the park for CW and the pack is starting to become a much more cohesive unit, so better things can be expected.

Looking at the lineups, we start with Caps.  A forward pack consitsng of plenty of experience, led by Captain and hard man, Glenn McKinnon.  Ryan, locks McCall and import Clark will be responsible for the grunt work and Lannigan and Mallory (known well at CW for his service a few years back), will join McKinnon, as a very useful back three.  In summary, a pack with no weaknesses, tough and tight.  For the hosts, Ilnicki returns to the front row and Kehoe moves to lock to replace Phelan and Kleeberger covers Keogh at #8.  Perhaps this group may be marginally more mobile but they will have to get the tight sorted out before any piano can be played.

Caps backs are led by a 9/10 combination - Robinson and import, Stephen Jones who are very crafty, they read the game well and can set a speedy backline on the go.  Zaruba on the wing is a finisher to watch.  CW will match with the return of three players - Armstrong whose game last week has earned his spot although MacPherson can feel perhaps, hard done by with a faultless performance Vs BL. The competition at #9 is a luxury and Armstrong has upped the ante after R.Mac's performances.  The Maestro returns to #10 after being injured Vs Rowers almost a month back.  He will be a marked man and depending on the amount of rust, maybe so goeth the rest of the backs.  It will be interesting to see Fuailefau pair with Matty in the centers.  Fulie has had a long injury layoff but will be keen to show he is fully repaired.  Morris, Horton and Northcott deservedly hold their spots as the back three.

These are two well coached sides and groups that have earned each other's respect over recent years with some ding dong, close battles.  The Ruggernut feels it is not an outcome to predict too vocally, although there is a slight leaning to the home side.  CW will have a strong group on the pines, ready to contribute and impact and that just may be the difference on this day.
