D DAY FOR DONORS....... tomorrow (Friday 13th...nothing suspicious about that!!) is the last day for CW's Blood Drive.  Congratulations and thanks to NSMT guys, who give blood on and off the field - Adam Kleeberger, Connor Trainor, Ciaran Hearn, Pat Kay, John Moonlight, Mike Fuli and Connor Braid.  Great cause guys.

The Pools for the International Sevens Circuit's Opener in Oz have been announced.  Canada finds itself in with Fiji, Wales and Portugal.  The event takes place on October 12/13.  The selection has not been announced as there are a number of players on the bubble with injuries.  We hope that Canada can get out of the blocks quickly and wish them all the best.  More news following.

The Grizz head to Ontario today with high hopes of upsetting The Blues in their return visit.  The Bears have added Sean White (after an outstanding performance at the Victoria Sevens last weekend), Nate Hiriyama who is obviously on the mend and that's very good news for B.C. and Canada and our good friend, Doug Tate!  Harry Jones is also included.  The Jones Boy in this pundit's opinion is a high rater....a good rugby brain, no shirker from contact and clever skills.  The Bears will be led by Lomas' Callum Morrison for his third game at the helm.  Burnaby's Govorchin, a grizzled customer comes back after injury.  CW's Jon Morris is the lone Tricolor with the group.  It looks like a balanced squad and if their work has been good, they will give Ontario all they can handle.  Go, Grizz......hand in me pocket for a few bob 'onyas.

Premiership teams will be "doing it tough" this weekend in season opening Barnard Cup action.  James Bay travels to UVic on Friday night and the word is that both, James Bay and CW are facing early season challenges....there's always Francis Yoon and Ed Knaggs...... and NSMT Sevens, CRC Reps (Bears) and war wounded will all be no-shows in club action.  On Saturday, CW visits Gordon Head to grapple with the Velox.  UVic has had a cast of 1000's at practise, so there will be ample numbers and a great opportunity for newcomers and "Bubble" returnees to show their stuff.  When we get any scoop on CW selection, you'll read it here.  Bring it on!
