Mini Coaches Have a Run !

Former "greats" and now mini coaches Ed Knaggs, Aaron Cook, Matt Gordon and Lee Wakely helped CW go 3-0 at the Ebb tide season opening 10-a-side tourney.

Proving that you are never too old to put on the boots, CW mini coaches and other over 40s players (I am as good as I never was !), competed the over-40 tourney hosted by Ebb Tide and played at Windsor Park.

It was a  round robin friendly 10-aside tournament at Windsor, 3 x 20 minute games for each side, CW was one of 5 teams.  This brought many CW alum out including from the mainland to reconnect with old friends. 18 CW players were able to play (the social contingent was even larger) and while CW won all 3 games (vs. Velox, Abbotsford and Ebb Tide)...the scores weren't really the point as this was a social tournament, designed by Ebb Tide to help them start their season, get guys registered and do some recruiting. Lou Webster and John Graf were awarded honorary men of the match, for their brilliant play off the pitch. The weather co-operated and it was truly a memorable day. Go CW, lets hope this winning momentum carries to our Men's teams next weekend vs. Velox. Incoming Prez Don Swainson was challenged by Ebb Tide prez Glen Okrainetz to the ALS ice bucket challenge, which will be met at the Home Opener, next Saturday, September 13th at Windsor.
