They Do It Again!

What a joy to wake up to!  Canada's NSMT team on top of the table going into their Vs England, final Pool match.  Canada opened with a huge win over newcomers, Japan, 52 - 0 and ultimately, it was the differential that placed them in #1 and thei fifth tournament in a row to qualify for Cup play. Second up was France and a 28 - 12 win.  Caught most of the England game and in my books, Canada was the better team and unlucky not to win outright.  Mack continues to be mercurial and Moonlight, magical.  All the others chipped in with great effort. Trainor appears stronger at each tournament and it was easy to see why he caused CW havoc in his last club game with Ravens and just how bl......y brilliant is this bit of "football" in the clip below?  CW's Scholtzie hit hios straps with four tallies on Day #1 as well. OUTSTANDING JOB - ONE & ALL.  Best of luck tomorrow.

Geraint John, Canada's coach: "I thought we had chances to score but so did they. It's important for us to top the group. We've come close in recent tournaments but we have shown the depth here, as well as the big players stepping up."

SATURDAY'S RUGBY FIX;  Should be a dandy at Velox Field (Gordon Head Road ) today when Velox take on UBC in a semi final of the Springs Brewery Cup.  There is much scuttlebutt as to who and how the promoted team from this league will eventually take Meralomas place in the CDI League.  Seattle are at Home Vs Richmond in the other semi. Velox will prove a tough hurdle for UBC despite their notable successes this season, including taking a brace off UVic, perennial winners of the Wightman Boot.  Both UBC and Seattle suffered only one defeat, that being against each other and Seattle, rumoured to have a host of Eagles available, have cut a swathe through this league, causing some teams to default and actually, Kelowna, to drop out.  So the scuttlebutt is, should Seattle eventually win, how will the clubs vote for their acceptance to the league.  On the flip side, it was decided at last year's AGM that Seattle is a bona fide participant and if the competition rules follow promotion/relegation.......you get the picture!  Velox will definitely have a say today.
