Rugby Canada Selects Squad Vs. Fiji - Wednesday.

Coach Crowley has named his squad to take on the Fijians this Wednesday at BMO Field, Toronto, KO., @ 3:00 p.m. PST.  The Fijians defeated Japan handily last week and pose a problem for the Canadians.  If you watch French, English and Super XV rugby, you would be constantly amazed by the size of Polynesian forwards playing around the world and with most of the northern hemisphere club rugby now completed, it will be interesting to see if any of the Fijian boys will be available for this match.  Canada is playing with a measure of confidence and self-belief, something which has been obviously building since a reasonably successful RWC campaign.

Pictured is Skipper Carps, presenting rookie #10, Liam Underwood with his first cap.  Underwood has heaps of talent and it will be interesting to see how he reacts at his baptism. Otherwise, there is a healthy sprinkling of well known Tricolors in the selection and it is good to see Sevens skipper, Yak Dala, getting a start on the flank. The FRF has a solid CW/Caps flavor with Hamilton being flanked by Tieds and Marshall.  Hotson and Phelan, a pairing that is becoming useful outside of lineout value, will be rounded out by the skipper @ #8 and Tyler Ardron.  Ardron is just starting to flex his muscles and his future looks very bright in the Maple Leaf jersey.

Philly Mack will finally be seen in the starting role @ #9, an opportunity that many and (no doubt), he has been waiting for for moons, with injury and the nurturing of Whitey, it will be great to see his impact.  The remainder of the backs are Jones and Hearn as the centers pairing and Evans, Paris and Braid as the back three.

Kick off for Canada vs. Fiji is 6:00pm EST/3:00pm PST at Twin Elm Rugby Park. The game will be broadcast LIVE on Rogers Sportsnet World and will be streamed LIVE in English and French on www.rugbycanada.ca. The game will also be shown on delay on Cable 22 in Ottawa and the international feed will be LIVE at www.irb.com

CW wishes the NSMT the best of luck.
