Wednesday's Ruck & Maul
R.I.P., Curtis Bailey
Curtis scores winning try Vs Rowers, 2019.
It is with great sadness that the Castaway Wanderers community has learned of the sudden passing of Curtis Bailey from a helicopter crash on August 15th. Curtis played fullback (and occasionally scrum half), for the CW Premier Reserve “Divvies” from 2017 - 2020, taking a sabbatical from rugby after he relocated and switched careers from engineer to his dream job of helicopter pilot. Curtis was a caring and compassionate person, and his bravery to pursue his dreams was admired by many.
He made a recent appearance in December 2023 for the Islanders, on a road trip to play the Comox Kickers. Those that knew him will cherish the memory and privilege of sharing the field with him one last time.
You can also take a moment to share any memories you may have of Curtis, on his obituary page HERE.
Curtis leaves behind his wife Ashley (also a CW alumni). If you would like to offer her your support, please visit their GoFundMe page.
A celebration of life will be held on September 10th, at Campbell River’s Maritime Heritage Centre at 1:30pm.
Curtis, you will be missed by many.

PACIFIC NATIONS CUP
Nothing to say about NSMT’s weekend loss to USA except for the fact that this now gives the US a 13 – 1 – 1 record from the last fifteen games between these two countries. Oh, and once again, there was little visible evidence of a game plan which negated the opponent's strengths and gave chance to exploit positive strategies for our men.
