To Bear Or Not To Bear, That Is The Question!

B.C. has selected their strongest combination to take on the Uruguayan Nats tomorrow in Montevideo.  CW's Jake Ilnicki and Gord Kehoe get the starting nod in a side led by UBCOB's, Callum Morrison and UVic's Pat Kat leads the backs.

In a recent blog we referred to South American opposition and U.Vic.  In 1975 with Canadian Internationals, Goodie Goodmunseth, Ken ("VIPS") Wilke and future Nats, Donald ("Bobby") Carson and Steve ("The Ox") Thompson in the squad, led by Player-Coach, Alun Rees, The Vikes became the second Canadian club team to defeat a fully-fledged International side, 13 - 9, when they defeated Uruguay. That side had also come from Argentina where they too, had been shanghied with tough opposition.  This segues nicely into the task at hand for the Bears.

Ten changes, a tougher pack and backline tweaks will make the Bears a tougher opposition.  That being said, Los Teros will be full on, with their upcoming repecharge against unknown opposition to still possibly find their way into next year's RWC.  So, best of luck to The Bears......we'll keep an eye on Coach Dixon's Twitter feeds.

Women's Rugby At Cowichan.  In preparation for the upcoming Nationals, B.C. Women will be in action on Sunday at Herd Road when they take on a "Select" team at 3:15.  The curtain-raiser is at 1:00 p.m. when the V.I. U18 women play Rugby School from the U.K.  There will be talent aplenty on display, so make the trek and hoist an amber with our Cowichan friends if you can.  Go, B.C.
