All That Is Good About the Game

Last week the writer had the privilege of attending the club’s second Annual Junior Awards Banquet.  The event was attended by some 150 players and their parents. CW Junior Boys & Girls have just completed a most rewarding and successful season and it was a time to celebrate the achievements of the players and their coaches and to thank a large cadre of supportive parents. The coaches recognized the following categories for all six teams: Attacking Player Award, Defending Player Award, Breakthrough Player Award, and Team Player Award.

Club President, Karl Klashinsky spoke about the program, Director of Rugby, Ken Goodland, introduced two “graduates” and current National Team Sevens Players, Caroline Crossley and Lockie Kratz who were the guest speakers and spoke of their pathways from Minis to the National level, goal setting, and hard work along the way. Finally, U18 Girls BC Champions coaches, Ed Knaggs, and Chris May, recognised the work of Youth Directors, Byron McAllister and Rob Peel. Well done, all.
