Sevens Weekend Winds Up

Terrific weather after a dismal start to the day was the order on Saturday afternoon and it was the backdrop for the Annual Victoria Sevens Tourney at UVic.  Big draws were those national team players available....a limited number, given injuries and seeing the boys are off on the "new circuit" next week, starting at Brisbane's Gold Coast Sevens and the Little Master - Serevi, donning the boots to lead his own "Selects".  At the end of the day, it was Canada Blue, led by CW's Lucas Hammond, Pat Kay, Sean Ferguson and Sean White who took the money over Serevi's Selects, 35 - 0 in the Final.  For this viewer's money, Kay was the Player Of The Day, following up his dominant performance over The Rock last Monday.

The Sevens Fiesta opened with a clinic after school on Friday for young players, male and female from 13 - 17.  CW's new U14 coach, Shane Muldrew took advantage of the occasion to expose all of his charges to  instruction from the best - Wasaili Serevi and Ben Gollings.  All 21 of CW's U14's took to the turf.  There was also a sprinkling of U16's and a good number of CW girls who are like the proverbial blotter, soaking up rugby!  Well done kids!
