Gerald Steenkemp

Gerald is back for his second season with the Castaway Wanderers, only this season he has added the role of coach. Player/coach is a tough role but Gerald has watched many showings of Slapshot and has modeled himself after Reg Dunlop. It looks, so far, as if the lads under Gerald will be making a run for the cup just like the Charleston Chiefs and that Kenny, Phil, and Andrew are a local version of the Hansen brothers. On the field Gerald is a dominating back row who is a great two way player. He is a powerful runner of the ball, a punishing tackler, and he will ruck and maul if there is no one else available. Before coming to the Island

Gerald lived and played in Calgary and it was while he led the local Mavericks to the Super League Championship that he caught the eye of the CW recruiters. The Club is unsure where Gerald was raised but to hear his accent and watch him play he must have been born somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere. To watch him socialize one can only assume he was raised with Lemurs on Madagascar. Social shortcomings aside, everyone involved with CW is glad to have Gerald as both player and coach.
