Chad
Plater’s rugby
career started in the wilds of the Cowichan Valley
and it was from these humble beginnings that one
of the best front row players in Club history was
plucked.
Chad
was the first participant of Rugby Canada’s
relocate-a-hillbilly program. This initiative took
him from the backwoods of Duncan to the city of
Victoria and the Pacific Pride program. Chad’s
rugby skills flourished during his time with the
Pride
and he was even able to master the use of a fork.
Once Chad graduated from the Pride he stayed in
Victoria and came to play for the Castaway Wanderers
and it
was at this point that he was short listed for
Canada. Chad is a tremendous scrummager and tireless
around
the park. He has recently assumed the role of Captain
since it was discovered that Kenny Goodland could
not speak English. Chad's greatest feat to date
has nothing to do with rugby however, the birth
of his
son Owen trumps everything. Owen has done well
following in his fathers footsteps and has anchored
the CW
under 2s front row for the past two years.
