Garth Cooke

Cookie is back to play another season with CW and he will definitely help anchor an already tremendous front row. Known to many as the Merit Mountain Cowboy, Garth is a powerful and surprisingly quick ball carrier and prolific try scorer. Garth has played for the Crimson Tide and the Prairie Fire in the Canadian Super league. He has won two B.C. Premier League championships with CW. He is a graduate of the Pacific Pride. Garth has also played for Canada several times and he represented Canada at the last World Cup.

Lastly and an honor that Garth is most proud of is his short listing for the Canadian Sevens team. These are all incredible accomplishments, but even more incredible when one considers that all this was done without opposable thumbs. Garth has spent two seasons in Europe playing in both France and Italy but was forced to return to Canada in frustration because he could not understand the locals. Every attempt that has been made to explain the concepts of different “Countries” and different “languages” to Garth have failed. So If you are speaking to Garth about his travels, remember that as far as Garth is concerned both Italy and France are just west of Revelstoke and the locals have very strange accents. Garth's hobbies include weight lifting, avoiding employment, eating food, country music, taking about T-Bone and making cat sounds. Garth is a bit of a delicate flower on the field and he will miss a lot of games with injuries but the CW faithful will be thrilled by every minute the Cowboy is on the pitch.
