Eric Backhouse

Eric grew up in Victoria and played his high school rugby at Oak Bay High. After high school Eric moved on to the the University of Victoria where he holds the all time drop goal attempt record. Eric always tried to bring French flair to the game of rugby but he could not match it with French skill. In an effort to become French he even started calling himself Serge Blanco. It was a sad time for both Eric and the University. It was at this stage in Eric’s rugby career that people started to notice that he was in fact quite slow both of feet and of mind.

Unfortunately for Eric a painfully slow standoff who misses ten to twelve drop goals a game is not a hot commodity. After UVIC asked him to leave, Eric decided to chase his life’s ambition. He would become a Doctor. He failed at this as well and ended up a Chiropractor after having convinced some poor school in the States that he was a rugby player of some note. Last year Eric returned to Victoria and started coaching at the club with Greg Bayley. He quickly tired of listening to Greg’s drunken belligerence and figured that by playing he could be like the rest of the players and not listen to Coach Bayley. Eric’s hobbies include talking about himself, telling others how great he is, pretending to be Jim Morrison while drunk in French cornfields, wearing blouses in an attempt to be seen as French and talking about himself. Welcome back House, its great to see you playing in Victoria again and playing beside Roger you even look fast.
