CW vs Meraloma BCRU U16 FINAL
It was with a sense of club pride that the boys headed to Cowichan to play in our first ever (??), or first for a very long time - Provincial Final in
U16 age grade. The weather turned to rain and it looked like things would favour the larger Lomas pack and be to the detrement of the fleet of foot, CW backs. At the end of the day, this prognostication proved to be true.

At the twenty-five minute mark in the first half, the larger Meraloma pack asserted itself and scored from broken play, after a number of good passes linked for the tally. Despite struggles at the loose and with scrummage, CW countered with enthusiasm and their athleticism, keeping the Lomas on their toes.

CW started the second half with concerted pressure and at the mid point, was duly rewarded with a superb individual effort by Aden Jack, when he booted the ball forward, put pressure on the receiver and dribbled from about 25m out to dive and touch down, barely within the confines of the in-goal area.
Joe Furness had a difficult task from wide out with a "heavy" ball and inclement conditions. Lomas 7 - CW 5.

The Lomas came back, exerting tremendous pressure and it was just the fact that huge hearts and pride held up with a number of goal line stances to avoid any addition to the scoreline. CW congratulates the Lomas who were the worthy winners on this day. For CW, Jordan Henderson was voted Man-of-the-Match.

This completed a great season for the boys......not always easy, fitting players into equitable playing times, whilst running two teams and the world was not always perfect however, the coaching staff of Rogie and Dave and Managers - Nigel, Adrian and Mike deserve HUGE thanks and congratulations on a job well done. To the players - thank you and congratulations, we hope you enjoyed your rugby. Finally, to a wonderful, vocal core of supportive parents - thank you!
