Rugby Rejuvenation

The annual post-Christmas influx of rugby players is in full swing and it appears that 2015 will not disappoint. Saturday’s selection for The Tricolors sees Thornber return from Australia, Chippsy with the cleats back on and at #10, quite a surprise from the Double Vees, Aaron Frisby. Frizzer is backing himself to make a difference at the Premier level. This Kiwi has certainly given plenty to Velox and CW will no doubt find a place/s for him in the backline if he cuts the mustard. His combination with a rapidly improving #9, Conway will be of great interest. Outstanding center prospect, Kennet Moore returns and newcomer, following in the boots of Peaches and the Bros. Ilnicki, from Williams Lake, Jordan Pritchard will be in his first outing. On the bench, we see Paul Buckley in gear after a two-year hiatus, something to do with a pair of lovely, twin girls and finally, a progeny from The Mole, via The Crows and The Raiders, Zack Alphabet.

So The Ones will take to the field in Times Colonist Cup action tomorrow at 1:00 at The Park against the Nanaimo Hornets. This same time last year, these teams gave us a contest of quality and we expect a tussle tomorrow as CW sits with a record of 2 – 1 and the visitors have yet to record a win, a state that the hosts can relate to as their 1 – 1 - 7 position at the bottom of the table in Ceilih’s Cup play attests. Rugby will be foreign after another lengthy pre/post-Christmas layoff. See you there. Post-game @ The Temple. The Ruggernut
