Road Warriors Define Their Own destiny

Tomorrow CW goes on the road to control its own destiny for the upcoming playoffs. A determined "second half" has put the boys in a position where they are not reliant on the outcomes of other matches.  This being said, it is still not a "piece of cake" as to what the playoff picture may be.  We start the pre-game comments with a "hats off" to Rugby Canada and Sevens Coach, Geraint John, allowing players to play club rugby for the final 'ding-dong' of the CDI Premiership.  We note that the likes of Harry Jones (Caps), John Moonlight, Phil Mack and Sean White (JBA) and Ciaran Hearn, Nanyak Dala and Mike Scholtz (CW) have been okayed to play with their clubs tomorrow.  We suspect that Connor Trainor will be suiting up with The Ravens as well!

UBCOB's has the potential to field a strong opposition and that, coupled with the facts that, over the years, Jericho has not been a "pushover venue" for CW and The Raven beat us at Home, 5 - 3 in the first round leads us to predict that tomorrow is far from a foregone conclusion.  Old Boys have the likes of Garbe (c.), Gilmour, Tom McKeen, Burak and Morrison in the fowards, not to forget the perrenial Yegi, to offer strong opposition, along with Captain-Coach, Tom Luke @ #10, Hendrickson Bros., coupled with Trainor and even possibly, Graffie, who always likes to show against his old club in the backs being a good challenge to the task.

We have kept this news item 'til late, as we have only just heard the announced team for The Tricolors.  Tieds will lead the boys from lock, coupled with Kehoe, who surely is making a case for some representation, somewhere??  The FRF looks very strong with Braddock returning and putting Chapman on the pines.  Yak Dala gets his first hit out in the Tricolor uni at #8 and Hearn (announced NSMT 15's Player of the Year), slots into #10, linked by Armstrong.  The rest of the backs have a different look with Panga and Henderson starting in the centers and Tomlinson and Horton getting the nod on the wings, putting Jon Jon on the pines.  Matt (minus the chip), returns as the custodian....in all, a rather strong group, with a very strong bench which may ultimately tell the difference.

We will not have a scribe nor photographer at the match but will have a Tweeter on the go.....so check in for the scoreline on the web and the best of luck to the boys as they seek "one more step".  From The Ruggernut -"May focus be the watch word" and good luck from the Victoria Crew.

N.B. Stay tuned - more following re RC  Award Winners (2013) from last night.
